KING OF TONE

Overdrive

Image Not Available
The KoT is one of the few overdrive pedals available that is NOT based on a Tube Screamer circuit. It does not have a huge amount of distortion. In OD mode, it has a little less drive available than a Tube Screamer. It has quite a bit more volume available than a Tube Screamer and The TONE control has a similar range.

The KOT has a very clever design that allows you to switch between bypassed, clean boost, and overdrive with two switches. As some have commented, you have to be careful to hit the right switch, but it sure beats having two separate pedals for these functions.

Not sure yet- but it appears to be rugged.

It has a very satisfying and organic sound that makes me want to play, which is the best indicator that it works for me.

I use a Rivera Quiana w/ a variety of Strat-type guitars. The thing just plain sounds great. At it's lowest settings it adds a vibe that is almost more "felt" than "heard"; a subtle liveliness that makes playing a joy. As you turn up the drive it adds the perfect sheen to your sound and just a touch of hair. I'd second what the earlier reviewer said: it's the only OD pedal I've tried that really does not sound like a pedal.

Very simple to use. One page manual cam with the KoT & pretty much goes over anything you would have a question about. BTW, this is the second revision model with the 4 DIP switches.

Built like a tank. There are alot of one man shops around that do custom pedals, but no one does them like Mike. His mods on existing pedals are great and his own pedals are the best. WAIT TILL YOU TRY A SUNLION!!!!! Mike will always take the time to help you out...

I play blues, R & B, R & R, Zydeco, funk, etc. I have a bunch of different guitars with different kinds of pickups in them, some vintage, some newer. The KOT pedal works as well with my Les Pauls as it does with my Fenders. The KOT is espeically groovy with a strat. I knew Mike by reputation and had communicated with him before so I was confident that this would be an excellent product, and it was. The only thing about the pedal that I can criticize is that I pretty much never use the clean boost switch, (although sometimes it gets stepped on by accident).
